Contractor Scope of Work
The Saipem Leighton Consortium has been selected to develop the $1.85 billion Chevron Gorgon LNG Jetty and Marine Structures Project, combining the strengths of Saipem and Leighton Contractors.
Project design is underway and construction is scheduled to commence in early 2011 on Barrow Island, 70 kilometres off the Pilbara coast of Western Australia. The project is expected to be completed in 2013. The design utilises 56 concrete caissons that will be manufactured at the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson, before being transported to Barrow Island and lowered onto gravel beds placed at intervals on the sea floor to provide a support structure for the jetty.
The jetty will consist of steel trusses 70 metres long supported by the 56 caissons leading to the loading platform approximately four kilometres from the shore.
The scope of work includes design, material supply, fabrication, construction and commissioning of the LNG Jetty which includes supply, fabrication and construction of marine structures including a heavy lift facility, tug pens and navigation aids.
In addition, the Saipem Leighton Consortium is completing the design, fabrication and installation of Pre Assembled Racks (PARs) for the 2.1 kilometre LNG Jetty. The PAR design, fabrication, transport and installation will be integrated into the existing Gorgon Jetty project design and construction process.
The categories of workers for the caisson fabrication at Henderson include form workers, steel fixers, scaffolders, plant operators, dogman, concrete workers, general labourers, project engineers, site engineers, surveyor, general foreman and supervisors.
The categories of workers for the construction of the jetty at Barrow Island include advanced riggers, open ticket crane operators, boilermakers, trade assistants, coxswains, marine superintendents and barge supervisors.
